Pacific Cancer Care clinicians are joining the Japanese American Citizens League of the Monterey Peninsula for a free afternoon on advanced care planning — practical conversations for every stage of life, not only end of life.

Speakers include John Hausdorff, MD (oncologist, Pacific Cancer Care), on palliative care vs hospice and California’s Death With Dignity Act, and Eva Montes Portis, MSW, LCSW (medical social worker, Pacific Cancer Care), on the social worker’s role on a care team and cultural norms around death and dying in the Latino community. They’ll be joined by Joy Smith, RN, MSN (advance planning and the POLST form) and Monika Hardy, PharmD of Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula (pharmacy’s role and cultural norms in the Japanese community).
