Dr. Shiffman completed his undergraduate degree at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. He also received his medical degree from Wayne State University. Dr. Shiffman completed his internship and residency at Cincinnati General Hospital at the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio. In addition, he finished his Hematology Fellowship at Cincinnati General Hospital at the University of Cincinnati.

Personal
Dr. Shiffman lives with his wife, Joanne, in Monterey. They have 5 children and 13 grandchildren. He loves to travel and is a voracious reader. He enjoys swimming, classical music, theater, golf and he loves to tango. He and his wife are co-owners of Face First Laser Clinic located in Cannery Row. Dr. Shiffman retired from practice on September 28, 2022.
